    Nonprofit Support Group

Created to share challenges, triumphs, and news, the Nonprofit Support Group (NSG) consists of nearly 30 local nonprofit representatives. Facilitated by CVC staff, NSG attendees support each other, learn together, and build partnerships. NSG meets the first Wednesday of each month in the Community Room at The Hub on Smith. Any Sheridan County nonprofit is welcome to attend.

Be the Best Board Member Training

Every nonprofit organization wants engaged and competent board members to succeed. Seeing the need for useful, applicable, interactive, and entertaining training, the CVC offers Be the Best Board Member modules for nonprofits. Organizations can request training on a specific module (see below) or combine them all into a Be the Best Board Member 101 training, customized for their specific needs. CVC staff will provide interactive presentations at a board meeting, retreat, or time and place convenient for the board members.

    Spring Training

Held every 3-4 years, Spring Training is a five-month series that builds toward a pitch to funders for capacity-building grants. Tailored for nonprofit directors and key staff, Spring Training focuses on subjects critical to a successful organization. Regional and national experts are brought to Sheridan each month to share their knowledge on subjects including marketing, financials, fundraising, and storytelling. Spring Training also builds a cohort of local nonprofit directors who collaborate and network together.

    Nonprofit Training

In years when Spring Training isn’t offered, the CVC hosts annual one and two-day trainings that focus on subjects requested by our local nonprofits. Because so many of our nonprofits have small staffs and smaller budgets, traveling to conferences to learn best nonprofit practices isn’t possible. The CVC brings the experts to them.  Local and regional nonprofit pros come to Sheridan and share their knowledge in dynamic and applicable ways. Topics have included AI and Nonprofits, Mission-Driven Metrics, Succession Planning, Mission and Message, Donor Relations, Fundraising Campaigns, and Legacy Gifts.
