Our Origin Story

Thanks to the vision and continuing investment of the Homer A. and Mildred S. Scott Foundation, the Center for a Vital Community began in 2001 when it found a home as a program at Sheridan College.

The CVC is a nonprofit organization whose fiscal agent is the Sheridan College Foundation. That means we raise all our funds for programming and support while helping serve as the community engagement arm for Sheridan College.
